CommercialContractor.ca ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at https://commercialcontractor.ca (the "Site"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it.

By using our Site or submitting a project inquiry, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. This policy applies to all information collected through our website, and/or any related services or communications.

02 Information We Collect

We collect information you voluntarily provide to us when you use the Site. This includes:

• Contact information — your name, email address, and phone number when you submit a project inquiry or contact form.
• Project details — information about your commercial construction project including type, location, scope, timeline, and budget range.
• Company information — your company or organization name, if provided.
• Communications — messages you send us through contact forms or email.

We also automatically collect certain technical information when you visit the Site:

• Log data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, time and date of visit, referring URL, and other standard server log information.
• Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 05 for full details.
• Device information — device type, operating system, and screen resolution for analytics purposes.

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as financial account numbers, Social Insurance Numbers, or health information.

03 How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Project matching — to connect your project inquiry with relevant verified contractors in our network.
• Communications — to respond to your inquiries, send you project updates, and provide customer support.
• Service improvement — to understand how visitors use our Site and improve its functionality and content.
• Legal compliance — to comply with applicable laws and regulations, including Canadian privacy legislation (PIPEDA).
• Security — to detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities.

We will not use your information for purposes beyond those described here without first obtaining your consent, unless required to do so by law.

04 Sharing Your Information

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With matched contractors — when you submit a project inquiry, we share the relevant project details and your contact information with contractors in our network who are a match for your project. By submitting an inquiry, you consent to this sharing.
• Service providers — we may share information with third-party vendors who assist us in operating the Site, including email delivery services and analytics providers. These parties are contractually bound to use your information only to provide services to us.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests from public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
• Business transfers — if CommercialContractor.ca is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

05 Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on our Site. Cookies are small data files stored on your device that help us understand how visitors use the Site.

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of certain features of the Site. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.

06 Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

Project inquiry information is typically retained for up to 24 months from the date of submission. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us — see Section 07 and Section 11.

Anonymous or aggregated data (from which individual identities cannot be determined) may be retained indefinitely for analytics and service improvement purposes.

07 Your Rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

• Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Right of correction — you may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Right of withdrawal — you may withdraw consent for us to use your information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
• Right of deletion — you may request that we delete your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations.
• Right to lodge a complaint — you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca if you believe your privacy rights have been violated.

08 Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. The Site is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption, and our infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare's global network.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use industry-standard means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.

09 Children's Privacy

Our Site is intended for use by business professionals and is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at projects@commercialcontractor.ca and we will delete the information promptly.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Your continued use of the Site after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
